Piltriquitrón in Mapuche language means "hill hanging from the clouds" in reference to the shape and location of this accident of geography.
On the hillside of Piltriquitrón will find the main cottage resort and you will find also craft shops, nurseries, tea houses and places where you can organize a horseback ride. For the more adventurous, this hill is one of the best in the country for paragliding, a unique journey with spectacular views across the valley.
From the shelter of the hill, located at 1200 meters above sea level, clear days of spring, summer and autumn you can see the Osorno Volcano in the Republic of Chile.
On the hillside of Piltriquitrón there are 40 works that comprise the "Bosque Tallado" where different sculptors used their art on dead trees (the result of a fire) as their best tribute to Mother Nature.
To get there you leave the ACA through the National Route No. 258 to the south and approximately 2 km from the ACA is the sign indicating the access road to the left. Normally the entrance is well signposted, but do not be overconfident.
Always following the main mountain road that meanders up the slopes of the mountain over 1000 meters on its way, you get to a platform where there is a spectacular view of El Bolsón and the best view of the Nevado cord that separates us from Chile.
On clear days you can see the Tronador located almost 100 km away and the chain of unexplored southwestrn glaciers back Lake Puelo in the Turbio river's nascent. It is also the starting point to get to the shelter of Piltriquitrón.
