In the Ecocentro of Puerto Madryn there are carried out cultural activities, such as a choir concert in front of the sea that develops over Easter. The choir Canticum and different musicians perform religious music in the Ecocentro of this city, facing the Gulf Nuevo.
Canticum Choir performs works such as passions by St. John and St. Matthew of Johann Sebastian Bach. In addition to the choir, soloists Silvana Montiquín and Claudio Dermo, South Chamber Ensemble, Carlos Ghiglione on piano and organ, and guest musicians Norberto Garcia on violin and Patricia Castella on viola, accompany the voices.
The Ecocentro, located at 3784 Julio Verne Street, was opened in June 2000. This is an oceanfront building with different sectors and samples where, from Tuesdays to Sundays, visitors can learn more about the fauna and ecology of the Patagonian sea. But Ecocentro is not only dedicated to spreading the wealth of the marine ecosystem. Through its foundation it promotes research on the subject and teacher training.
In this sense, one of its most important activities was the satellite tracking of an elephant seal. Their migratory route through the Atlantic Ocean could be observed in real time by all concerned on the website of Ecocentro.
In addition, the foundation is bound to another related task, which is weaving science with art and culture. Within this framework, it has organized concerts like the one by Litto Nebbia and different operas.
