Nacional Chivito Festival See map

The northern of Neuquén shows its dancing and traditional foods in the National Chivito, Dance and Song Festival. Chos Malal is the chosen city for tourists to sample the local traditional food of Patagonia, especially the goat on the grill, and enjoy the various activities that show the site's characteristics.

Every year, in early November people who come to Chos Malal can taste the flavors of the Patagonian meat. From the bornfires that are at the sight of people, the goat on the grill makes people want it and chefs do not neglect their identity with their native country attire, they show visitors the preparation of the highlight of the 

National Chivito, Dance and Song Festival.

Since 2004 this festival has the status of "national" event and it counts every year with the presence of numerous artists from regional and national level that adorn the festival with musical performances, as well as representations of local identity through the groups of dances and the popular singers of the various nearby towns with their typical costumes.

Moreover, in the event you can enjoy the gauchos's parade, rodeo skills, jineteadas to attract the attention of visitors, the homemade bread, pies, regional food and the bonfires that are prepared to cook the famous and tasty "chivitos al asador". 

The importance of the event can bring people together near the North of Neuquén and publicize their customs, their food, their songs and dances for tourists who come to the place.

The latest edition of this event in 2010, had the national level performances of Teresa Parodi and Rally Barrionuevo. Also, local and regional bands acted.
