The town of Gaiman of strong Welsh tradition helds every year in the month of September the Youth Eisteddfod, an event involving the world of the arts in two languages, Castilian and Welsh.
Next to the Chubut Eisteddfod, held in Trelew, are bilingual events that are one of the most important expressions of art in the province of Chubut. The competition includes the disciplines of poetry, prose, recitation, translation, music, dance, drama, crafts and ceramics, plastic and graphic arts, photography and comics.
The event is organized by the nonprofit Chubut Eisteddfod Association and is funded with contributions from public and private institutions and resources of the association. The main purpose of the contest is the opportunity of learning and joy, beyond the chance to win a prize. It is the possibility of being recognized by the community and share a learning experience. Any person, group or unprofessional institution can participate and must make their entries to the appropriate offices:
Of note is the important task of the jurors, who selflessly collaborate with the qualifying of the event and providing an order of merit to all competitors who are. They are responsible for making returns stating the rights and wrongs of each contestant, so they can be overcome in the years to come.
The 2011 edition of the Youth Eisteddfod was held from September 14 to 18.
